Yoga, sound, nature and creativity
We had quite the sensory based retreat this January for our first yoga, sound and creativity day with @helenroscoeyoga and @createspace_yoga_sound joining forces to bring together their love of creativity, nature and well-being. 🍃
We were equally delighted to have been able to collaborate with @earthlyfeasts Aimee who brought her own ideas around the creative process to the dining experience. 🍲
Thanks to everyone who joined us for this New Year nourishment. We felt as though everyone enjoyed the liberating qualities of the day. 💫
Starting with a slow brewing lemon and ginger tea blend thanks to @theteapot_uk we took ourselves into the practice space where Helen guided the group through seasonally inspired posture, breath work and meditation.
Our themes for the day came from the #niyamas and in particular we explored ideas around discipline, heat, contentment and our connections with nature.
We then roamed in an ancient woodland and found natural objects for our mark making practices to follow.
Lunch was green, light and at the same time wholesome! We were encouraged to leave mess on the table, after Angharad, Aimee and I created the table cloth the night before with our materials.
The creative session was guided by Angharad as we took to the floor with hand made inks from walnut, red cabbage, rose petals and turmeric. We learned about the history of ink and mark making and were guided to trust the process and play! Something we don’t get too much time for as adults!
The day rounded off with a beautifully relaxing sound bath, where everyone was invited to surrender and fully rest.
The new year brings with it so much…and yet nature is still very much hibernating. This retreat adopted the approach of taking only what we need, and finding contentment with what is - rather than striving for any more or less.
We can spend days like this reminding ourselves of the simplicity of mindfulness, in our approach to the way we move, breathe and think about ourselves.
It can be a beautiful thing - letting go and enjoying play!
