Springtime Rhythms

“Just to say how much we enjoyed the retreat! All the sessions were just amazing and so interesting. It was nice to meet new people as well. The accommodation & food were fab, David and you make a great team! Hopefully we’ll fit another one in this year!” P & S

Impressions from our Spring fuelled retreat which took place last weekend.

From Friday night through to early Saturday evening we were exploring impressions of spring. Through yoga, in nature, with food and in art we were able to explore our sense of touch. The season of Spring has been swirling by quickly, so it was a real joy to be able to offer this time and space for everyone to take stock of their energy and find their rhythm once more. Exploring the sense of touch with clay.

After a rejuvenating yoga and sound bath evening with Helen and Angharad, we gathered again first thing on Saturday to continue our explorations of Spring, yoga, creativity and nature.

The morning started with a short journalling session inviting our guests to consider their impressions of Spring. Thinking about how it feels in particular and the sense of touch. We were met with words such as ‘crumbly soil’ ‘velvety green’ and ‘awakening’. This helped Helen explore further these ideas within her yoga practice which included a chance for people to dust off and start all over again. From Feldenkrais explorations, through to traditional yoga postures, breathwork, mudra (gesture) and mantra (sound) we felt as though everyone had a chance to start their day with a Spring in their step.

The yoga practice led into a walk, and even though we had just experienced a very wet Easter, we were able to get out an head to the local waterfall Ceunant Mawr which was truly breathtaking. The sound, the spray and the energy was incredible. It certainly helped to wake up our senses before we came back for a warm, seasonal meal thanks to Dave our inhouse chef!

The afternoon session on Saturday was all about working with our hands, and was led by Angharad who has a wealth of experience of being an art teacher at GCSE and A-level, as well as her own art practice as an illustrator and painter. We were in good hands - quite literally. Clay was the fabric as well as working with mark making tools such as shells, seed heads, branches and leaves. All of which were used to leave impressions within the clay. The impressions were then made into a cast for people to take home as a keepsake. There was focus, quietness, laughter and hysterics. A beautiful combination!

To help consolidate the day our retreat guests were invited to rest as Helen and Angharad joined together to help form a uniquely healing sound and relaxation experience. 🌟 Everyone was essentially invited to play! Which is what we need more of in our adult lives. To let go of inhibitions and judgement, free from the holdings of the ego and enjoy movement, breath and thought in ways that inspire curiosity and joy!

Look out for more days like this in the future as well as one day a retreat with @helenroscoeyoga and Angharad piecing it all together over the course of a weekend.

Our next scheduled day is on 14th June where we will delve deep into fire, the summer solstice and our sense of sight. ☀️ bookings now open! Head to the link above to find out more!

Thanks to everyone who came along. To @createspace_yoga_sound and @helenroscoeyoga for their beautiful collaborations and to @iamdavidrutter for his delicious meal.
